Academy Committee

Committee Chairs: Ah Young Huh

Academy Committee is established for members to share new academic information and legal knowledge of various fields required for their work and to improve the competitiveness of in-house counsels through active exchange and discussion among members. The Committee’s main events include the annual Academic Forum, held in spring and fall, in which our members can share the latest legal information with one another from invited prominent experts from various fields. In addition, the Committee strives to improve the legal skills of our members by developing and providing a number of practical training programs specifically designed for in-house counsels, along with various educational materials and academic information.

Arbitration Committee

Committee Chairs: Dang Huh

Arbitration Committee was established due to the increase of arbitration cases involving Korea-based corporations and due to the fact that Korea is gradually expanding into an arbitration hub for other Asian countries. IHCF hopes that helping members accumulate knowledge and share their experiences with various arbitration systems, institutions, and jurisdictions around the globe will not only assist the work and careers of the members, but also ultimately enhance the arbitration practice in general. IHCF anticipates that Arbitration Committee will provide the foundation for this endeavor.

Compliance Committee

Committee Chairs: Jae Woo Cho, Ju Won Hwang

Compliance Committee is ever increasing in importance to companies as senior management are often held personally responsible for actions of their employees. The goal of the Compliance Committee is to strengthen the network among professionals who practice in or are interested in legal issues relating to ethics and compliance matters. The Committee members will share information on compliance policies, plans, legal development, and best practices in domestic/overseas matters. In addition, the Committee members will get a chance to learn from one another as well as from experts in these fields. Furthermore, we plan to study ways to respond to domestic/foreign government investigations arising from alleged violations of domestic/foreign laws by Korean companies, and the ways to utilize domestic and foreign law firms.

Environment & Energy Committee

Committee Chairs: Zi Su Kim, Suh Young Lauren Hong

Environment & Energy Committee was established to support IHCF members who actively engaged in various positions within the construction and energy industries. The Committee shares knowledge about global legal trends and policies in the fast-evolving sectors of construction and energy, while providing forums and organizing seminars and networking events on diverse topics; this facilitates the exchange of extensive information and opinions among members and fosters the sharing of their experiences.

ESG Committee

Committee Chairs: Moon Hui Kim, Celin So Jin Park

ESG Committee intend to encourage the members to form perspectives in their own respective industry and area of interest, how to support business, and to consider what policies are needed on this topic of ESG.
Since the launch two years ago, ESG Committee members had relevant book reading / discussions and a seminar with an expert on the topic.  Recently, the Committee members and former IHCF President/a chair of the ESG Committee of a corporation’s Board of Directors participated as a panel with an expert. 

Finance Committee

Committee Chairs: Kwang Wook Choi

Finance Committee seeks to provide the latest industry development and relevant laws to in-house lawyers working in the financial industry or with financial institutions, and those who are interested in the financial industry and looking for future opportunities in the sector. The Committee also seeks to help in-house lawyers build on their network. With recent integration of the financial sector with the IT industry, the traditional roles and tasks of the financial institutions further evolve. The Committee will actively help the IHCF members who provide legal advice, compliance services, or legislative efforts in the financial industry better understand and be better prepared for such changes.

Healthcare Committee

Committee Chairs: Young Do Kim, Hyun Shin Ryu

Healthcare Committee was formed for the members working in various sectors within the healthcare industry, such as pharmaceutical, biotech and medical devices sectors. The purpose of the Committee is to provide a forum where the members from various sectors within the healthcare industry can share information and best practices, learn about the latest legal trends in the industry, and build on their network with other members.

IP·Technology Committee

Committee Chairs: Yoo Jun Lee

IP·Technology Committee was formed with to support IHCF members working in the technology and manufacturing sectors share and discuss up-to-date legal developments and issues that arise in this ever changing industry. The Committee organizes and offers seminars covering a wide range of topics (i.e., legislative, transactional, regulatory, compliance issues, etc.) that may arise and/or impact these sectors on a regional basis as well as on a global basis. Also, the Committee addresses intellectual property rights.

Labor & Employment Committee

Committee Chairs: Min Jeong Lee, Scott Seong Hwan Kim

HR(labor, employment) plays one of key roles in corporate management, ranging from earlier phase of corporate establishment, operation and restructuring to setting up rules and policies for employment and remuneration and managing labor disputes. 
In consideration of growing needs to effectively resolve complex HR issues and enhance working environment, IHCF has introduced Labor & Employment Committee to propose, share and debate insights among the members and industry experts.

Leadership Committee

Committee Chairs: Una Min

Leadership Committee provides various seminars, coaching and mentoring, and networking events with executive search firms to help in-house legal counsels to accelerate their legal career growth and expansion.

Planning Committee

Committee Chairs: Hyun Kyung Kim, Kyu Chul Lee

Planning Committee provides a platform for sharing insights and expand the network among the members who are exerting their expertise in various fields by planning and hosting networking events such as the annual 2-day workshop, Thanksgiving party, annual general meeting and Year-end Party.

Women's Committee

Committee Chairs: Eun Joo Lee

Women's Committee provides various trainings, networking opportunities, and practical job-related coaching to enable female in-house attorneys to grow and establish leadership within the organizations they serve and society.

Young Lawyers’ Committee

Committee Chairs: Yeon Joo Lee, Woo Young Choi

YLC was launched to assist young or new lawyers (1~7 years PQE) develop skills and gain insight needed as an in-house attorney and to provide a venue for them to receive general career advice as well as specific content-orientated mentoring from seasoned lawyers. YLC holds various programs, including Mentor-Mentee Program, networking events, seminars, and volunteering opportunities. In particular, the Mentor-Mentee Program, launched in 2010, is becoming YLC’s most representative program. The goal of this program is to match junior in-house lawyers with experienced lawyers who would help them improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities in an in-house setting by offering career-related advice and sharing tips on legal issues and work. YLC strives not only to strengthen individual member’s capacity but also help them build a stronger network through these various activities and events.
